After briefly testing iOS and Android, Facebook-owned messaging platform WhatsApp stated support for animated stickers last week. The company has now started widely running out the feature to all users.
“Stickers are one of the fastest-growing ways people interact on WhatsApp, with billions sent every day. We are operating out new animated sticker packs that are even more expressive and fun,” the company wrong it on its blog post.
While WhatsApp allowed the sticker pack ‘Playful Piyomaru’ in the beta testing phase, it has now added four new packs, namely Rico’s Sweet Life, Chummy Chum Chums, Bright Days, and Moody Foodies.
As announced by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is also working out a new sticker pack it calls “Open for Business!”, probably for WhatsApp Business app. You can apply these stickers on both iOS and Android.
In case you’re questioning, you can obtain the new animated stickers from the ‘+’ icon, which you can see on the top right corner of the current WhatsApp stickers section. Touching on it will open the Sticker store. You can easily download the stickers you like by pressing on the Download button, which is present next to each sticker pack. Also, there is assistance for third-party animated stickers.
Unlike Telegram’s implementation, the animated stickers on WhatsApp don’t connect. During the beta phase, while most of us thought it was a bug, it looks like WhatsApp means to make it behave this way.
In case this new feature is missing on your smartphone, make sure you update the application to the latest version on App Store or Play Store. It took some time, but it is good to view support for animated stickers on WhatsApp. Download these new animated stickers pack and let us know in the comment section what’s your experience about these stickers.
